About the Book
This is a dark and smutty romance with a sprinkle of fantasy.
If you are looking for epic world building, this is NOT the book. The Devil After Dark is fantasy-lite, with a world that is similar to ours (cars, phones, etc), but also has magic. The world’s origin story, the gods, and history are mentioned, but only briefly in support of the major plot.
We’ve got a stalker, an ex, a drug enterprise on the brink of war, and a council of magic wielders who run all sorts of unsavory businesses.

Flashing emergency lights and blood stained hands were not on my to do list for the day. To run away would have been a normal response, but no, I ran towards the extremely handsome men who had been shot. The night was supposed to be a simple work dinner followed by me snuggling into my reading chair with a filthy book. Instead, I was sitting on the back of an ambulance, trying to wash blood from my hands.
At thirty-two, I’ve never married, haven’t had a long term relationship in years, and I am so buried in my career that I’m not even sure I’m upset about the whole situation. Plus, with the vibrators they make these days, why risk bringing a psycho home? No thanks. But then I met Cassio and my ovaries decided they wanted to run the show.

Magic wielders are taught from an early age our superiority over the others. We could simply wipe everyone else from the world if we wanted to, but instead, we found a way to enslave them and make them believe they were free. They were really just our little pawns. My grandfather built a crime empire trafficking drugs and two generations later, I was born. Raised to be the perfect fucked up rich and controlling asshole I am today.
My penthouse looks out over the two rivers that bisect the city. It is a beautiful view and one I do not get to enjoy often. Usually I am still working at this hour. Tonight I had been distracted enough thinking about the woman from the night of the shooting that I left my other obligations and opted for alcohol and my view of the city. I already knew I would jerk off to the thought of her later. Even that wouldn’t be enough to erase her from my dreams. I also knew I would be hard as steel in the morning as well. Nothing I had tried would erase her from my mind—and I had tried quite a few things already. A few of those things I wasn’t necessarily proud of, but I had tried them.
